Letter, 1777 September 1, Williamsburg [Va.], to Col. [William] Preston.

Governor Henry's letter concerns the most recent outbreak of fighting and Col. Preston's orders for his militia company to be in readiness. Approves of Col. [Evan] Shelby's plan of defense. Hopes an expedition into Ohio may be possible. Col. [William] Fleming will be directed to cooperate. Col. [James] Southall will deliver powder and mine managers will deliver lead for shot, perhaps from Richmond.
